Although I was very skeptical about the claims being made about SAM-e, I decided to try it after reading a review online. Although my depression had reached a point where it was making my life unmanageable, I was terrified of taking a prescription anit-depressant because of all the potentially negative side effects. I’ve always been very cautious about anything I put into my body, and felt the same way about SAM-e initially. It’s been about 5 weeks since I started taking SAM-e, and I have to say, it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

I started taking 400 mg of SAM-e in the morning, and within the first week I could tell it was having a positive effect on my mood. I was amazed to discover that I felt normal again, and by that I mean that I felt like “myself” for the first time in a long time. Since starting to take SAM-e, my energy has increased, I’m much more upbeat and positive, and I am able to go out and socialize without suffering from terrible social anxiety.

The difference between natural SAM-e and prescription antidepressants is that sam-e does not have any of the negative side effects that other medications can cause. I was concerned about feeling “spacey”, weight gain, and loss of libido, but I did not experience any of those side effects with SAM-e. If it’s taken properly, in the right situation, I think that SAM-e is as close to a miracle drug for depression as anything.
