I have been taking prescription antidepressants for about 5 years (Paxil), so when I lost my health insurance in July I was really concerned that I would not be able to afford medication to manage my depression. After researching SAM-e online for about a week, I ordered a bottle and was frankly amazed at it’s effectiveness in treating my depression. WIthin just a few days of taking my first dose, I felt a remarkable difference in my mood that I never was able to attain with prescription anti-depressants. It was like a heavy cloud was lifted. While I haven’t felt the euphoria feeling that some people who take SAM-e get, I also haven’t felt like my feelings are numbed or covered up, which was the my main complaint with the way Paxil made me feel. While I’ve read about people needed to take 600mg a day in order to get the positive effects, I’m doing just fine taking 400mg a day. I’m really happy that I made the decision to try an “alternative” solution to my problem with depression, and one that is a lot less expensive than my prescription was! If the big pharmaceutical companies ever find out how well SAM-e works, they’ll probably try to get the government to make it illegal! (I’m kidding, but it’s that good!)
